Well, I bought an old Toshiba SD-M1401 DVD/CD drive. They were commonly used on Sun servers, and of a similar vintage as the PE2400, so thought I would try it. I installed it in place of the Dell CD...

As you probably know, two drives actually "failing" at the same time is unlikely. If two drives go offline at the same time, there could be a number of other reasons why: Backplane - multiple slots -...

Basically we run a 3 disk RAID 5 which stopped responding over a weekend. The outsourced tech team I use took three hours to determine that the system was offline and they had to manually restart...

View ArticleRe: PowerEdge 1750: setting up the raid

Sounds like you have the memory positioned correctly, but do you have the 2 procs in the 2 middle sockets, and you have the 2 flex memory bridges in the 2 outer most sockets?
View ArticleRe: PE R810 Memory Configuration
Dustman,I take it you have the FlexMem bridges installed. What you will need to do for that layout is to enable Sparring. To do that you would need to access the BIOS (F2) and then under Memory...

You can take a look at the manuals for them, but they aren't all that helpful. The configuration utility for setting up RAID isn't really difficult to navigate, and we can help answer any questions...
