QLE2562 HBA not detected in DELL Power Edge R720 server's BIOS as well as it is not visible in /sys/class/scsi_host/ and no HBA is recognized in QConverged console utility.
Server BIOS version is 1.2.6
Although HBA is successfully detected in DELL R730 server.
We once updated the RAID controller of DELL R720
Do you think Is there can be any link between changing RAID controller and Server BIOS.
As before RAID controller up gradation HBA was recognized in DELL R720.
I have two dell PowerEdge r720, each has 16GB of memory ( Four 4GB UDIMM Dual Rank). I would to upgrade the Memory capacity of one of the servers by removing a 4GB stick from one and installing it in the other. After installing the memory in the server, i check out the available capacity and remained at 16gb. Is the something which has to be done to enable the additional memory or a particular slot which it needs to be installed in. The donor sever now show it has 12Gb which is correct.
Does any one know the pin out for the 8 pin Power Connection 1 on a T620 system Board or Power Distribution Board.
My company had an old poweredge sc1420 with Windows Server 2003 - nobody can remember the password and I really don't want to run an end-of-life MS product in any event - I wanted to turn the box into a Linux server; mostly for some file sharing, but domain services would be a plus.
From the Dell documentation I've found over the last week of searching indicates that this model will only support Suse ES 9 - and of course I can't find a source of an ISO.
I've got much more experience with Ubuntu, but I'll even do it with Slackware if I have to.
I've pulled the RAID card out, and connected a fresh hard drive directly to the motherboard port.
Any way I can get *some* linux server OS installed?

yesterday I installed a Gigabyte Nvidia GeForce GT730 video card in my Dell PowerEdge T130. The installation went good (I disabled the embedded video processor from BIOS). By the way whe windows starts up the chassis fan of the computer (not the GPU fan) runs always at very high speed, making a lot of noise. At the same time the temperatures are very low: approx. 25 °C for the CPU, 27 °C for memoty and 34°C for the GPU. I checked Fan Speed Offset from the iDRAC configuration and it is off.
Can somebody please help me?

I was wondering if I can use a Quadro with my R410? The specs says it has a pci-e slot, but I imagine there are some other limiting factors that I am unaware of. Does anyone know if it will work?
I imagine that fitting it in the case will be an issue, but I am curious if there are any compatibility issues.

We frequently need to update BIOS on hosts running VMware ESXi. I know there is a system build ISO that can be downloaded but I often download the wrong content and this is very time consuming. What is the best way to update BIOS and Firmware on virtual hosts?
I recently brought my old PowerEdge 1950 out from storage, booted it up and found the following error: "Error: Memory failure detected. Memory size reduced. Replace the faulty DIMM as soon as possible.
Then lists my memory config (8x2GB)
The FBD link to the following DIMM failed to train: DIMM 6 & DIMM 2
FBD training error - The following memory branch has been disabled: Branch 0"
Can anyone help with this error? Do I need to re-configure the DIMM slots?

How do I remove this message from the LCD?
I tried DRAC.
Two different people checked the BIOS but there is nothing indicating "chassis" or "intrusion" or "disable chassis intrusion".
We removed the server briefly from production and the cover is on and latched closed.

In my Dell poweredge R620 server i install 8GB 12 Memory stick in slot B1-B12,but some memory stick not showing(B5,B6,B9,B10),server usable memory is 64gb now.Plz suggest me RAM accurate population.

I've got a second hand R410 that came with Dell sliding ready rails which is rack mounted in my 22u rack. I've just bought a new CMA for it but I've found that while the outside rails have the ears to fix the CMA (and supporting bracket), the inner rails that the R410 attaches to doesn't have them meaning that the arm won't attach.
Can someone confirm whether the ready rails for the R410 do have the ears for the inner rail and if so, does anyone have the part number?
If anyone can take a photo of them if possible that would be grand.

I aquired a dell 2850 from a friend, now this unit does not boot led on power button just flashes. I cleared the nv ram, switched the cmos battery and checked psu's everything is working. I also seemed to notice there is no PCI riser installed, Please help me on this issue if you can. Thanks!

I have Dell R720. It shows firstly error related to NIC card which solution was changing Motherboard (as new NIC also gave same error) due to which i need to replace the Motherboard, but when i install another Motherboard it did not boots with RAID controller but shows RAID config in BIOS. I thought its DOA board so i replace it again but issue is still same and during post it shows the following error,
plug and play config error:
option ROM shadow RAM allocation error
No shadow memory available for option ROM
Integrated RAID
Bus 3 Device 0 Function 0 Integrated RAID
kindly provide solution for this as this issue is already delayed and now critical also.

We've been running a Dell Poweredge C1100 (CS24-TY) in a colocation facility for over a year, but decided to replace it with brand new machines.
It arrived today, but isn't posting. The server starts, and the power button is green, whilst the amber fault light blinks. The manual states that this means: "BMC critical condition event in power off mode (S0/S1)".
When looked further into this, it was also suggested that corrupted BIOS could be the problem. But I'm unable to find any CMOS pins to reset this.
Any help or advice would be greatly appreciated!

We've recently acquired a Dell VRTX with 3 Poweredge M630 Blades. We updated all the firmwares (network, iDrac, CMC, and so on) to the latest version. Now I'm about to install Oracle VM 3.4 on each blade and form a 3 node cluster.
I've heard the Oracle VM is not able to find the LUN assigned to it (through the CMC) because it does not support the Perc 8 shared controller ... if this is true I will not be able to build the cluster nor access the shared storage :-(
Does someone have experience on that?

First, let me say I am a network guy and not real familiar with Dell servers so I may say something dumb...:) I just received some used R610 servers. They seem to be functioning fine but I do get this message when it boots up:
Message PR11: Part Replacement license is not present, replacement action(s) will not be performed.
I need to know how to clear this message. I tried following the instructions here but I don't have the "Part Replacement Config" option.

Hit F10 for System Services on statup, that will take you to the USC (Unified Server Configurator).
From there select Hardware Configuration and then Part Replacement Config.
You need to verify that "Collect System Inventory on Restart" is Enabled.
As well as verify the "Part Firmware Update" is set to Match Firmware of Replaced Part.
Any ideas? Here is some other potentially useful info:

Anyone have experience adding a regular GPU into an R730? I was hoping to be able to add a Quadro K2000 into an R730 as a power user workstation.
Questions I have are:
1) Is this possible to do in a 1CPU build, or do I have to do 2 CPUs?
2) Do I still need a dual PSU (will Dell software prevent bootup with 1 PSU and a GPU) even though the Quadro is only 51w max draw?
I know the GPU expansion kit is needed so I already have that in mind.
