The PERC S100 supports up to 2TB. The chipset might recognize more than 2TB with the S100 turned off, but I can't say for sure. You need an H-series with the latest firmware (H700 would be best) controller for larger than 2TB drives, in which case, the "server" maximum is only limited to the number of physical drives you can actually put in the system, and not by a 2TB-per-disk max.
So, with 4 slots, you could do up to 4x4TB=16GB on an R310 with an H700 controller.
