Hi to all

I have an r720 with lcd stuck showing the user defined string

I'm unable to use the arrow buttons and even from the idrac im unable to set something else

Only the ID led is working

Additionally, i think that im also unable to fetch power usage properly, its stuck on 182W with no changes from yesterday and the second PSU (powered up) is rated at 0 amperes

The idrac is working properly, i was able to set an ip and access the web interface

Should i check something? Is this critical or can i live with this ?

Dell PE 1950 II - Swap motherboard for something else?

Hello,

I have a Dell PE 1950 II and i've upgraded it as much as I can.  But I have some DDR3 ram and two Intel Xeon E5 2650's that I would like to use in my dell.

My Question is, would another Dell motherboard, say R620 or R720 motherboard fit into the chassis of my 1u 1950?

Most parts look the same, but i'm not sure if anyone has done such a mod, or if its even possible.

Thanks for your time.

HWC2003 BP1 Signal cabel or interconnect failure.

Hi,

I got this error message on PowerEdge R620:

"HWC2003 Storage BP1 Signal cable or interconnect failure. Check connection. "

I checked the user manual and found something like "J_BP_SIG1 Backplane signal connector 1". Is this the part with connection problem?

And what is the functionality of this BP1 Signal cable? Any problem if I left this error message unsolved for weeks?

Bios upgrade causing lag

My old motherboard on my poweredge T610 had a bad memory channel so I replaced it. This new board needed some updates so after I installed Version 6.4.0 of the Bios, the Operating system is experiencing lag every few seconds.

Does anyone have any suggestions or is there a way of reverting back to the original version of the Bios? I think it may have been version 1.28 or something.

R910 quad CPU 8x memory riser - memory population/layout

Hi everyone

We have a Dell R910 with 4 CPUs and 8x memory riser cards.

At the moment the server has 256GB memory, 4x 8GB RDIMMS per riser.

The team has requested an additional 64GB for this server to take it to 320GB but from the documents I've found I'm pretty sure that 320GB spread across 8 memory riser cards is not a valid configuration. I have a feeling that they will need to step up to 512GB.

Is there a valid memory layout for 320GB spread across 8 memory riser cards?

Thanks, B

PowerEdge T110 II - faced memory failure?

My PowerEdge T100 II stopped running. I've got the following behavior when power button is pressed:

  1. Diagnostic indicator lights show 1,3,4 error
  2. In about 25 seconds fan runs faster and indicator shows 3, 4
  3. System health indicator starts blinking amber, fan runs slower

Monitor and keyboard don't even try to do anything. Is it memory failure? The thing is that I have 4 memory modules (used to work perfectly well), I tried removing all modules and reinstall just one, tried different slots and different modules - nothing helps. Same 1,3,4 error, and then 3,4 + blinking amber. Is there any way to figure out what causes the issue? Is it a memory failure, or may be mother board issue, or something else?

Thanks.

Burned Hole in Backboard of Dell Server T630

$

Hi All -

We have experienced a strange anomaly on our Dell PowerEdge T630, which resulted in the loss of 24TB of data. I'm wondering if anyone here has experienced a hole burned through their backboard under the heat sink? (see image)

We unfortunately only have this one image of the under side of the backboard which would sit against where the drives were inserted, but you can still see the damage.

This may be a dumb question, but how is the Heat sink normally attached to the back board? is it soldered on or held on by a screw(s)?

We are basically seeking any advice/recommendations anyone may know as to how this may have happened (i.e. electrical surge, bad install/improper build, too hot environment, degraded UPS backup battery, etc.) or if anyone has any experience with something similar.

Any suggestion?
