R710 error while booting: pcie training error integrated RAID

I have an r710 and just now booted it for the first time.

First thing it does is check the ram then it looks for the iDRAC card (which I don't have) and then after that is when it displays the error:

pcie training error integrated raid

System halted.

The pcie card I have in the raid PCIe slot is the PERC H710 raid card.

The green LED on the card blinks/flickers so I am hoping that's normal for it to do that.

The BIOS version on the R710 is 6.0.7.

I am able to log into the BIOS ONLY IF i wait until it promts me at the end up it loading everything in bios. However, if I press F2 while its loading everything still in bios i get into the bios menu (but only if i do not have the H710 pcie card connected).

I am not able to find the option to update the BIOS via lifecycle controller.

I changed my computer  server 2008 r2 a new name, now the SLQ and most folder file security still inherited the old computer name. Can someone please help me... or is there any Microsoft hot fix link to fix this issue?

Intel 10G X520 Dual Adapter

Only the second ports come up.  Other port does not load.  any ideas ?  Have reinstalled and installed latest drivers.

PowerEdge R430 won't boot SATA using UEFI

Got a new PE R430 and configured BIOS for UEFI. It recognizes the SATA SSD (set to AHCI) as present/detected. However, it is not presented as a boot option, only PXE NICs.

When changed to legacy BIOS boot, it is an option, so it's being detected correctly.  All latest BIOS, firmware, etc.

I've contacted Dell support twice. Their response is that if it boots in legacy BIOS mode, there are no issues.  However, we are standardized on UEFI, so would like to get it to work as it should.

Any suggestions?

Dell PowerEdge T630 - nvidia Quadro compatibility

Has anyone successfully used any version of the Quadro with the PowerEdge T630?

We have a T630 with the GPU kit. I see the Tesla listed as compatible with the T630, have found the GTX970 to not be compatible but am wondering if anyone has had any success with the Quadro line.

R620/R630 PCIe Slot Power Limit

Hi,

I'm trying to find out if any of the slots available on the R620 (12G) and R630 (13G) are capable of suppling a FusionIO card with 75W of power. Currently the cards are in slots that are only supplying the device with 25W.

PowerEdge 2900 - PSU problem - Simple Question

Hello,

I am new to the server world and have a simple question that can't find an answer to. We decommissioned our 2900 last fall and it was running fine no issues we just upgraded to 2012 server and got a new server to run that. One of our smaller locations could benefit with the old server so we want to get it set up for them. So I plugged in the Power supplies (we have 2) and there is green light on both power supplies where the electrical icon is showing green but that's it. Nothing happens when you press the on button. I think another green light needs to be on to show the PSU is working correctly - is this correct? Also does this mean we need new power supplies?

Any information is greatly appreciated!

Can someone please tell me where to find the Service Tag / Asset Tag Utility? The client can't find original software disk. Any help is much appreciated!!

OS: Win2k8R2 oem, CPU: Intel X3430, Mem: 16GB, PERC 6/i, 2x RAID1 Arrays

UPS Tower 1000W UPS - goes in and out of buck

Last week we had a short power outage (less than 1 minute) but the UPS didn't kick in, causing server issues.  I had a look this morning and it would appear the UPS is still not functioning properly.  Would it be connected to how the in and out voltage has been configured?

Hello,

This will be my first post and the question could be stupid but I need to know if I change Power Policy from "No Redundancy" to "Grid Redundancy" all blades will shut down or reboot?

I don't want to stop them.

m620 integrated SD Card not in boot sequence

Hi

I have installed esx5.5 on the integrated SD of a new blade.

the install goes well. I rebooted and added the SD card to the UEFI boot sequence.

a couple of weeks later, I rebooted the blade and it does not boot. The SD card is not in the UEFI boot sequence anymore.

I booted on a DVD of ESX 5.5 and he sees the SD card so I can reinstall.

any idea?

Upgrading PE2950 III RAM

I bought this 32GB FBDIMM kit off eBay, only to have it not work. Server is 2.7.0 BIOS. If I put all 8 in, I get no errors and no video, but it sounds like it started. If I put one 2GB stick that worked before and 7 4gb sticks, I get video, but with errors. Error: Incorrect memory configuration. DIMMs must be installed in pairs of matched memory size, speed, and technology. DIMM Slot: 1. 2 3 4 5 6 7 8 2gb

iDRAC7 Power Configuration setting

Hi!

Please help me!

When I set iDRAC on R820 , first time I found the setting menu but next time I can't find it.

The setting menu is "Power Supply Capacity Alert :Enabled or Disabled". 

Why the menu does not show? And How can I set this again?

Hi All,

can anyone assist on VRanger Backup & replication software? we need to shift some Replication jobs to other Virtual appliance because we have configured signle Virtual Appliance as Cluster VA and remove the Old Virtual Appliance but some of the VM`s are still finding the old Appliance and these VM`s Replication jobs is also giving error.

Adding RAM to Dell PowerEdge T310

I am trying to add some RAM to my Dell PowerEdge T310.  I have two open RAM slots and I ordered these two sticks of RAM (which are official Dell RAM)

SNP9J5WFC/4G

4GB 1333MHZ (PC3L-10600)

However, when I put this RAM in and try to boot up the server, the server's LCD screen says "system booting" but the monitor stays black and nothing else happens (no boot screen, no BIOS no nothing) ?

Dell R310: What do the fans do with unknown PCIe cards?

Hi,

I'm looking at replacing my aging modified PE2950 gen 3 with a server that is more power efficient, while still retaining 2 PCIe slots.

My use case is not particularly normal in that it is for a home setup and that the server will be baremetal install to act as my AD and TVServer for the house.  As such, I need to be able to add two DVB-S2 cards to the chassis to receive the satellite feed.

I know that with certain other manufacturers, installing unknown PCIe cards cause their fans to go nuts as they assume the cards are overheating.  How do Dell servers deal with this, in particular the R310?  The R310 appears to meet all my needs and I think would be perfect.

Also, until I removed the Perc 6/I from my R410 it was quite noisy, how does the Dell R310 fare for fan noise?  The system, along with everything else will be in a rack mount away from the living areas in the basement. I think I could cope with anything up to around 60dba but above that, it would be too noisy... I appreciate that 1u rack systems are not designed around being quiet but some genuine feedback here would be great.

Any help you can provide, or direction is appreciated.

DELL poweredget T630 iDRAC cannot be initialized during reboot

can any one please help me about the iDRAC initialization issue? When I try to reboot my server , and I see the error msg regarding to iDRAC , and also the fan speed is very high with very unusual large sound.  And the front LED screen also did not show up. It is just black.

on the screen I can see error msg type : UEFI0028, UEFI0036 AND UEFI0029.


This issue just began to happen to my server yesterday after I added a new 16G memory card .. (Now even after I remove the newly added memory card, this still happens) .


Issue looks very urgent for me , really appreciate if any one can please advise how to solve this issue.Thanks

Dell PowerEdge 1950 BMC Help!

Hi,

I was finding that the server was taking a very long time to boot. I plugged in a monitor and found that the Baseboard Management Controller was having a "Communication Failure". I was also finding that the DRAC5 installed in the server was not working at all. I browsed the forums and I read that updating the BMC would fix this issue. I have server 2012 R2 installed on this system so I downloaded the 2.50 update for the BMC (.EXE) and started to install it, the fans ramped up to max speed and then I got a BSOD, when the server rebooted the PERC6 now cannot see my 2TB drive that has windows installed (SATA), it can only see the 300GB SAS drive.

Is there a way to get my 2TB hdd working again and to get the BMC to work?
