OK thanks. I installed the new PERC 310 driver but after some initial signs that the adapter was performing better it seemed to go back to the way it was before. Basically same Servers - one with PERC H710 can handle 100 MB/rec read/writes - the one with the PERC H310 - only around 20 MB/sec read/writes.
