Yes, theres only 1 COM port. I've also tried using the COM port on our server (T620) and I get the same blank screen. All the settings are correct (9600, 8 bits, no parity, 1 stop, no flow)

You may have a bad cable. There are only 3 possible issues I can think would cause this bad cable, wrong COM port, or a faulty NMC. Do you have a serial port on these systems, or are you using come kind of serial to USB converter? Also, by your answer it does not sound like you understood what I was saying about the communication port. COM ports are logical not physical ports. I see that you are using COM1, have you gone into device manager to verify that the serial port the cable is attached to is assigned COM1 and not COM5 or some other COM port? The most likely issue would be that you are using the wrong COM port to connect, but it could be one of the other issues I listed. The only way to rule them out would be to try a known good cable or a known good NMC.
